An inventory form is a snapshot: what was physically here, on this date, signed. A new owner, a closing pharmacy or an inspector asks for it.
Full and part packages are counted separately, so a sealed bottle and an opened one are never mixed up.
What is on it
- Drug, strength and DIN
- Full packages, and the package size
- Part packages, with the units remaining
- Total units on hand
- Counted by and verified by, with the date and signatures
When you reach for it
- Opening a new pharmacy, or taking one over.
- Closing, or transferring stock to another location.
- An annual or biannual snapshot filed with the year's records.
How often to count, and how long to keep a sheet, are answered on the count sheets hub. Every sheet prints the Ontario and federal retention rules in its own footer.
More sheets
- All five sheets in one PDF — When you are setting the whole narcotic book up at once.
- Editable log spreadsheet — When the arithmetic is the part that goes wrong.
- Perpetual inventory log — The ongoing record you keep between counts.
The counting is the easy half
NarcCount works out what you should have from records you already keep. See it worked through on one drug or get the data out of your dispensing system.
